About Us
Spend Your Habits began as a small pile of hand-cut leather coins on a desk in Madrid. Here is how a personal fix for a restless brain grew into an app.
How we came up with the idea
In the founder's words
I have ADHD. For most of my life, finishing things was the hard part, and finding the motivation to start them was even harder. Motivation would show up in a burst and then vanish, and every habit app I tried went the same way. A reminder is easy to swipe away, and a broken streak only ever made me feel worse.
So I built my own system, and it was not an app at all. It was leather. I set up a little bank on my desk with hand-cut leather coins, leather bills, and a paper ledger. Every good habit earned me coins. Every treat and every bit of time off had a price, and I wrote down each transaction by hand, like a tiny economy for my own life.
It worked in a way nothing else had. A treat stopped being a guilty impulse and became something I had earned and could spend on purpose. After living with the leather version for months, the next step felt obvious. I wanted to carry my bank in my pocket, so I decided to turn it into an app.
Why build another habit tracker app
I never set out to build a product. Spend Your Habits started as a private tool I made just to get through my own day, and for a long time that was all it needed to be.
Then the people around me saw it and wanted it too. The more feedback I heard, the clearer it became that this was not just a personal quirk. People are tired of habit apps that only nag and guilt them, and nobody else turns good habits into coins you can actually spend on the things you enjoy. It felt like a genuinely different idea, so I decided to finish it properly and bring it to both app stores for everyone.
